A federal judge ruled that the Trump administration must permit members of Congress to conduct unannounced visits to ICE detention facilities.

U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb granted a temporary restraining order, finding that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s policy requiring one-week advance notice likely violates a longstanding federal appropriations rider (Section 527).

The decision came in a lawsuit filed by 13 Democratic lawmakers led by Rep. Joe Neguse, who were previously denied access to a Minneapolis ICE facility.
