President Trump addresses Israel’s Knesset as the U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas begins.
All 20 remaining hostages taken by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023, were returned to Israel Monday in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, officials said.
“Israel has won all that can be won by force of arms. Now, it is time to translate these victories … into the ultimate prize of peace and prosperity for the entire Middle East,” Trump said.
“People are dancing in the streets, not just in Israel,” President Trump said.
“This long and difficult war has now ended,” Trump said, despite only the first phase of the ceasefire being brokered.
“The cruelty of October 7th struck to the core of humanity itself,” the President told the Knesset. “Please know that America joins you in those two everlasting vows — never forget, and never again.”
