LinkedIn to start using data from European users to train its AI systems starting November 3.

LinkedIn will begin generative-AI training using data from European users starting November 3, 2025. Users will have the option to opt out, ensuring that private messages are excluded from training. This marks a shift from September 2024, when LinkedIn halted similar plans due to criticism.

Data used may include profile details and public content. Additionally, LinkedIn will enhance data sharing with Microsoft to personalize ads, which includes an opt-out option as well. Under GDPR, LinkedIn will use "legitimate interests" as its legal basis for this data processing.

Users can manage their data settings under "Data for Generative AI Improvement."
