Senator Rand Paul encouraged the Trump administration to prosecute Dr. Anthony Fauci

Bericht door noumoe »

On Tuesday, Senator Rand Paul encouraged the Trump administration to prosecute Dr. Anthony Fauci, proposing to "Charge Someone Who Was Pardoned" as a means to test the validity of pardons issued by President Biden.

“Do you actually think that because the pardon for Anthony Fauci was signed by AutoPen, there could potentially be some legal way that we could still hold Anthony Fauci criminally accountable, Senator?” Kirk asked Paul during their extended discussion.

“I think we don’t know, but the only way to do it is to challenge it. So, for example, I do believe Anthony Fauci committed a felony by lying to Congress,” responded Paul, a vocal critic who lately recommended Fauci to the DOJ for prosecution.

“So you have to charge him with a felony, take him to court, and then the court will decide whether or not the pardon is upheld. You can argue until you’re blue in the face that you can’t do AutoPen and that maybe the president wasn’t aware of it. But the only way to actually do this is to charge someone who has been pardoned,” Paul contended, indicating it might serve as a precedent for additional Biden pardons.

“I think Anthony Fauci is the most likely to be chargeable. There are other people—Hunter Biden could be charged as well—but someone has to be charged. You have to take it to court, and then you have to decide. I think in Hunter Biden’s case, he actually did physically sign it,” Paul added.
