Kamala Harris will jab at President Trump in the keynote address at the Emerge gala on Wednesday, making her first public remarks since leaving office in January, a source told The Hill.
In her remarks, the former vice president, who lost to Trump in November, is expected to offer pointed criticism of the administration, the source said.
Harris is also expected to honor the organization for its role empowering women in politics and issue a call to action to combat Trump’s economic policies and his push to overhaul the federal government.
Emerge, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the gala, is an organization that helps recruit and train Democratic women to run for office. Harris worked with the Emerge co-founder Andrea Dew Steele on her run for district attorney of San Francisco in 2003.

Kamala Harris returned to the public political arena on Wednesday, delivering a speech berating President Donald Trump and urging Democrats to find inspiration from elephants at the San Diego Zoo.
She urged Democrats to find courage in the video of the San Diego Zoo elephants who responded to a recent earthquake by circling around each other.
'As soon as they felt the earth shaking beneath their feet, they got in a circle and stood next to each other to protect the most vulnerable,' she said. 'Think about it. What a powerful metaphor.'
'Understand what we are in fact witnessing is a high velocity event, where a vessel is being used for the swift implementation of an agenda that has been decades in the making,'
She urged Americans to stand against the administration with courage.
