Judge denies Fulton DA’s request to evade subpoenas from Georgia lawmakers over election indictment

Shukura Ingram, a judge with the Fulton County Superior Court, denied Willis’ request to quash the subpoenas.

Willis has said as an elected official, lawmakers don’t have the power to subpoena her.

In a motion to quash the subpoenas, Willis argued the Senate special committee on investigations that issued the subpoenas did not exist because the new Georgia General Assembly was sworn in back in January.

The Senate committee wants Willis to answer questions about her investigation into alleged election meddling in Georgia after then-former President Donald Trump and several of his GOP allies were indicted in Fulton County in 2023.

Willis has until March 12 to refile another order to quash the subpoenas, with Ingram seeking a “detailed list of claimed privileges and objections” from the district attorney.
