LGBTQ Coalition ‘Gays Against Groomers' Vows To Fight Against Radical Activists

Gays Against Groomers appears to be the first openly queer coalition speaking out against members of the LGBTQ community and contentious topics. According to their official site, they formed this new alliance as a reaction to the uptick in LGBTQ events and support efforts that some people feel are sexualizing young children, all in the name of pride. Organizers claim that the LGBTQ community has been "hijacked."
It does seem, however, that like most LGBTQ support initiatives, Gays Against Groomers says that the drive for activists is to preach love and support, for all. Furthermore, they assert that the majority of the queer community is actually against modern-day pride events and activities – specifically those that they say target children. The coalition is against Drag Queen Story Hour groups and any form of drag that is welcoming and open to children, medical transitioning of gender for minors, and any form of gender identity being discussed, and therefore "taught" in schools.
It appears that Gays Against Groomers was founded sometime this month. They are busy at work, sharing dozens of Tweets per day. Today, much of their efforts have been spent bashing social media users and journalists comparing them to Libs of TikTok.
Twitter has aided in the so-called culture war that is pitting Americans against each other over radical gender ideology rhetoric. For those with similar beliefs as Gays Against Groomers, it isn't necessarily an attempt to discriminate against the LGBTQ community, but instead, to speak out against extreme viewpoints that are implementing a certain lifestyle onto young children. They feel that by allowing a drag queen dressed up as a princess into school libraries to read to children, there is a good chance this will confuse students into thinking they are something they are not.
On the other hand, many supporters of these types of events feel that opposers, like Gays Against Groomers, are painting a skewed picture around the overall message – especially when they use names to describe these people like "groomers." To these activists, programs like Drag Queen story hour serve as an opportunity to end hateful stigmas against the drag community and show young children that just because someone looks and dresses differently doesn't necessarily make them a bad person. Furthermore, they see it as a chance to show young children, who may already be questioning their own identity, that people in society are accepting.
Despite varying thoughts, Gays Against Groomers is able to depict just how torn the country is on these matters, even within the LGTBQ community. With more and more support for pride, perpetually comes more and more extreme accounts of controversial actions. But at the end of the day, all of this is subjective, and each and every viewpoint on modern-day activism is going to vary.
