Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) seemed to enjoy seeing the tables turned on the Biden administration, which has been accused of transporting illegal immigrants to cities across the U.S. in the middle of the night. Cruz declared Washington, D.C., a “border town” after Texas dropped off its first busload of migrants in D.C. on Wednesday morning, just blocks from the U.S. Capitol.

Cruz shared the comment in a Twitter post featuring the report from Fox News.

Fox News reported:

“The bus pulled up at approximately 8 a.m. local time, blocks away from the U.S. Capitol building. Fox News has learned that they came from the Del Rio sector in Texas, after coming to the U.S. from Colombia, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.”

The Fox report added: “Upon the bus’s arrival in Washington, D.C., individuals disembarked one by one, except for family units who exited together. They checked in with officials and had wristbands they were wearing cut off before being told they could go.”Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) announced his intent to bus illegal immigrants to D.C. after the Biden administration announced plans to end Title 42.

Title 42 is a Trump-era measure used to restrict the flow of immigrants into the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In another round of mixed messaging, the CDC said reduced COVID risks justify the repeal of Title 42 while the Biden Administration continues to enforce vaccine mandates and cities like Philadelphia reinstitute mask mandates.

On April 1 the CDC released a statement saying: “After considering current public health conditions and an increased availability of tools to fight COVID-19 (such as highly effective vaccines and therapeutics), the CDC Director has determined that an Order suspending the right to introduce migrants into the United States is no longer necessary.”

Many anticipate the repeal of Title 42 will significantly negatively impact border states. The first bus of migrants collected from Texas border crossing points arrived in D.C. a week after Gov. Abbot threatened Biden with the possibility. The Daily Wire previously reported:

“With the Biden administration ending Title 42 expulsions in May, Texas will be taking its own unprecedented actions this month to do what no state in America has ever done in the history of this country to better secure our state, as well as our nation,” Abbott said.

One of the additional actions being taken, Abbott said, will be charter buses hired by the state to transport illegal immigrants to Washington, D.C.

“To help local officials whose communities are being overwhelmed with hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the Biden administration, Texas is providing charter buses to send these illegal immigrants who have been dropped off by the Biden administration to Washington, D.C.,” Abbott announced.

“We are sending them to the United States capital where the Biden administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across our border.”

Conservative leaders were quick to commend Abbott’s decision to bus migrants to D.C. Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ). Biggs lauded Abbot and challenged Arizona Governor Doug Ducey (R) to follow Texas’ lead to help the Biden regime “see reality.”

Biggs tweeted: “The Biden regime and Dems sit comfortably in their D.C. offices as the border worsens,” he added. “It’s time they see reality. I call on @DougDucey to follow @GregAbbott_TX.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) suggested flying illegal immigrants to Biden’s home state of Delaware, where, incidentally, Biden recently finished building a $500,000 wall around his home.

During a CPAC speech in February, Gov. DeSantis suggested sending migrants to Hollywood and Washington, D.C.
