UN peacekeepers withdrawn from Central African Republic over alleged sexual abuse
450 Gabonese peacekeepers are being pulled out of the CAR following allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse, Gabon’s government confirmed.
“Following the numerous cases of allegations of exploitation and sexual abuse being processed, the United Nations today decided to withdraw the Gabonese contingent,” the statement said.
Gabon's defense ministry has warned the perpetrators will be brought before a military court and "tried with extreme rigor."
