Ocasio-Cortez Says She’s In ‘Therapy’ Because of Capitol Mayhem, Says Lawmakers ‘Served In War’

Just when we thought New York socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could not stoop any lower, she surprises everyone.

During an interview on Latino USA, Ocasio-Cortez made a series of eyebrow-raising comments about the Jan. 6 mayhem at the U.S. Capitol.

AOC played the victim and said she’s in “therapy” because of the supposed trauma she is still experiencing.

Ocasio-Cortez also said it “had a lot of us, especially Latino communities, in a very reactive mode” and even falsely claimed that the experience meant that she and other lawmakers “served in war.”

“After the 6th, I took some time and it was really Ayanna Pressley when I explained to her what happened to me, like the day of, because I ran to her office and she was like, ‘you need to recognize trauma,’” Ocasio-Cortez said.

“And I feel like I learned this the hard way after my father had passed away when I was a teenager … That happened at a young age and I locked it away. You have to live with it for years,” she added.

“Oh yeah, I’m doing therapy but also I’ve just slowed down,” she said. “I think the Trump administration had a lot of us, especially Latino communities, in a very reactive mode.”

Ocasio-Cortez then turned the conversation to Mike Pence, saying he was removed from the chamber just a minute before “these terrorists, insurrectionists got into the Senate chamber.”

“Pence was the one person, arguably, that had one of the most important roles in making sure that procedurally the Electoral College counts went on as proceeded,” the socialist said.

“Sixty seconds could have meant potentially the difference between what we have right now and a martial state,” she continued. “This was an all-out attempted coup.”

“If 60 seconds went differently, if a different door was opened, if a chair wasn’t barricaded in a certain way, we could have a completely different reality right now,” the radical lawmaker added. “We don’t want to acknowledge that that’s how close we got, but that is how close we got.”

WATCH:

The Democratic-controlled U.S. House of Representatives has passed one of the most partisan bills imaginable.

The House passed a bill 213 – 212 that will provide $1.9 billion for “additional security measures” at the U.S. Capitol.

And it turns out that the bill only passed because one Republican “forgot” to cast his vote, which would have been against the bill, thus killing it.

California GOP Rep. Ken Calvert claims he “forgot” to cast a proxy vote on behalf of Texas GOP Rep. John Carter, which ultimately would have killed the $1.9 trillion Capitol security funding bill.

Carter submitted a letter to the clerk of the House of Representatives dated May 14 giving Calvert authority to cast his vote by proxy “due to the ongoing public health emergency.”

A “no” vote from Carter would have tied the vote.

A tied vote would have sunk the bill in the House since it would have blocked it from passing.

The House cannot break a tying vote like the Senate, where the vice president can vote when the votes are tied.

But there’s more to the story that raises suspicion.

Carter had successfully voted by proxy on the “the motion to recommit” earlier in the day, just not the final vote on the supplemental security bill.

A spokesperson for Carter said the congressman “would have voted against the bill if his proxy vote was counted for the final vote. The congressman included a statement in the record that he would’ve voted no.”

“Rep. Calvert had been voting by proxy for Rep. Carter throughout the week. Rep. Calvert made a mistake and simply forgot to cast Rep. Carter’s vote,” the spokesperson added.

The records show Calvert voted in-person on the final vote.

During the pandemic, Pelosi has given representatives the option to vote by proxy or in-person.

Several Republicans have come out against Democrats recently passing a bill to create a commission to study the Jan. 6 mayhem at the U.S. Capitol.

Arizona GOP Rep. Paul Gosar claimed during a congressional hearing last week that “outright propaganda and lies are being used to unleash the national security state against law-abiding US citizens, especially Trump voters.”

Gosar described those who took part on Jan. 6 as “peaceful patriots” and Babbitt as a “veteran wrapped in the American flag” and “executed.”

The “real” insurrection, he claimed, was the FBI’s investigation into “Russia, Russia, Russia” following the 2016 elections.

Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called on Congress to investigate “BLM and Antifa” for “domestic terrorism.”
