SAVE EUROPE ACT PASSES 500,000 SIGNATURES AS PRESSURE GROWS ON BRUSSELS.
The Save Europe Act campaign has now collected more than 500,000 signatures, according to its organisers, bringing it halfway towards the one million needed for a formal European Citizens' Initiative.
Speaking in the European Parliament, Dutch commentator Eva Vlaardingerbroek said the campaign is calling for:
• An end to both legal and illegal mass immigration.
• Stronger external border protection.
• A European remigration framework.
• Greater protection for free speech and democratic rights.
Eva also claimed the European Commission attempted to block the initiative's registration and said campaigners were prevented from staging a symbolic event outside Parliament despite carrying more than 500,000 signatures.
Croatian MEP Stephen Nikola Bartulica described the campaign as a growing grassroots movement, declaring:
"Europe must choose: open borders and managed decline, or freedom, sovereignty and survival."

MY ASSESSMENT: Whether people support or oppose its objectives, the speed at which the Save Europe Act has reportedly gathered over half a million signatures demonstrates that immigration remains one of the defining political issues facing Europe. If the campaign reaches one million verified signatures, the European Commission will come under increasing pressure to publicly address its demands.
