Saudi Arabia pledges $368 million in aid to Yemen's government in Aden
Saudi Arabia is set to provide about $368 million in economic assistance to Yemen's Aden-based government. This support will be channeled through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Programme for Yemen to help stabilize the government’s budget.
Since the Houthis ousted former President Ali Abdullah Saleh in 2014, the Aden administration has faced significant economic challenges, including a declining currency and rising prices.
Riyadh has been a long-time supporter of the government in Aden, providing billions to assist with finances and public sector salaries since its military intervention in 2015.
