President Donald Trump will leave the G7 summit in Canada early "so he can attend to many important matters,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Monday evening.
"President Trump had a great day at the G7, even signing a major trade deal with the United Kingdom and Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Much was accomplished, but because of what’s going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State," Leavitt posted on X.
The schedule change will cancel Trump's planned bilateral meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. He also will also not attend a press conference on Tuesday.
The announcement came after Trump posted a warning on social media warning "everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran."

THREAD: AXIOS: Shortly after Trump's post, Iranian media reported explosions and heavy air defense fire in Tehran. It's unclear if there was any relation between Trump's post and that attack.
White House spokesperson Alex Pfeiffer denied reports the U.S. was attacking Iran: "American forces are maintaining their defensive posture, and that has not changed. We will defend American interests," he wrote.

President Trump, as he’s leaving the G7 early, says, “I have to be back... very important...you probably see what I see, I have to be back as soon as I can... I wish I could stay for tomorrow, but they understand, this is big stuff"

President Trump: Publicity seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a “cease fire” between Israel and Iran. Wrong! He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!
