Venezuela has restarted repatriation flights for deportees from the US after President Donald Trump’s special envoy and Nicolás Maduro agreed to a fresh start and the release of six American prisoners.

The Venezuelan government said two airplanes operated by state-run airline Conviasa were carrying deportees from the US to Venezuela on Monday. The passengers included some members of the Tren de Aragua gang, the government said. Two Conviasa planes arrived at the military airfield near El Paso, Texas, earlier Monday from Cancun, Mexico, according to flight records.

A White House post on X confirms the restart and adds that it is being overseen by Ambassador Rick Grenell.
