Fauci warns against podcasts, memes and ‘conspiracy theorists,’ says the unvaccinated are responsible for 200,000-300,000 deaths
"...people who refuse to get vaccinated for any variety of reasons, probably responsible for an additional 200,000 to 300,000 deaths in this country."
"Do you think the American public should listen to America's brightest and best doctors and scientists, or instead listen to podcasters conspiracy theorists and unhinged Facebook memes," Rep Robert Garcia (D-CA) asked.
"Listening to people who you just described is going to do nothing but harm people because they will deprive themselves of life-saving interventions, which has happened and you know, some have done studies, Peter Hotez has done an analysis of this and shows that in people who refuse to get vaccinated for any variety of reasons, (sic) probably responsible for an additional 200,000 to 300,000 deaths in this country."
"Thank you, sir. And your entire team for saving lives in this country. And I'm sorry, you have to continue going on with these attacks," the Democrat member of the committee responded.
During the same hearing, Fauci admitted that the Covid virus was not 100 percent effective against transmission of the virus.
Fauci said that the first iteration of the vaccines "did have an effect — not 100 percent, not a high effect — they did prevent infection and subsequently, obviously transmission."
"However, it’s important to point out something that we did not know early on that became evident as the months went by, is that the durability of protection. against infection and hence transmission was relatively limited, whereas the duration of protection against severe disease, hospitalization, and deaths was more prolonged," said Fauci.
He later stated when pressed to confirm whether the vaccine was 100 percent effective, "I don't believe any vaccine is 100 percent effective."
Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene called for Fauci to be prosecuted, telling him, "We should be recommending you to be prosecuted. We should be writing a criminal referral because you should be prosecuted for crimes against humanity. You belong in prison."
