Alleged pedophile fashion mogul Peter Nygard arrested on more sexual assault charges for 1993 case

Winnipeg, Manitoba, police obtained an arrest warrant on Monday for city native Nygard, 81, after months of investigation into the 30-year-old case.
The disgraced exec received two new charges for sexual assault and unlawful confinement.
He was arrested at the Toronto South Detention Centre, where he has been in custody since December 2020 after being napped in Winnipeg on a provisional warrant for crimes in the US.
Winnipeg Police Service said they would not release any more details on the 1993 case until it is before the court.
However, accuser April Telek told CBC News Tuesday that Nygard raped her and held her captive after he invited her to a modeling job in 1993.
She said his latest arrest “feels like such a huge victory,” but “it’s not a full victory because I still have sisters out there who he is not being held accountable for the damage that he has done to them.
But for me today, I want to really, truly embrace this as a win and the justice system works.”
Police opened up an investigation into Nygard in June 2020 and later submitted eight cases to Manitoba prosecutors, who did not pursue criminal charges against him.
The case was then given to the Saskatchewan Justice for an independent review in December 2020, the outlet reported.
Nygard is also facing similar criminal charges in the US, Toronto and Quebec.
The fashion mogul was first arrested in Winnipeg in 2020 after he was charged with nine counts — including sex trafficking — in New York.
He was originally taken into custody at the Headingley Correctional Centre, after being arrested by Winnipeg officials on behalf of the US.
He has since been moved to the Toronto facility after receiving charges there.
Nygard has been accused of luring at least 10 women to his home in the Bahamas with promises of cash payments and lucrative modeling opportunities.
However, the women were allegedly plied with booze and drugs and then violently assaulted, a complaint read.
One of his alleged victims included a 15-year-old girl, who the fashion executive allegedly tried to sodomize before raping her and asking her to defecate in his mouth before offering her money.
He also faces one count of sexual assault and forcible confinement in Quebec for a crime that allegedly took place between November 1997 and November 1998, according to CBC.
The Finnish-Canadian is also set to be extradited to the US to face charges after his Canadian legal issues are resolved, according to CBC.
His Quebec trial is set to begin in June 2024.
Earlier this year, Nygard launched a $15 million smear campaign against his billionaire Bahamas neighbor Louis Bacon, who he portrayed as a member of the KKK. The fallen mogul was then ordered to pay a record $203 million in damages to Bacon for the wild allegations.
The pair’s feud began long before Nygard began making outlandish claims against the billionaire.The nearly decade-long conflict began over a shared driveway near a beach that was made famous in the James Bond flick, “Thunderball.”
A New York judge ruled the women’s wear executive spread “malicious falsehoods” about Bacon and hired more than two dozen people to help spread it through the use of TV and radio ads, doctored videos and more.
