Convicted Portland Antifa rioter and arsonist sentenced to no jail time in sweetheart deal
Alma Yesenia Raven-Guido is a violent Antifa member who carried out multiple attacks in Portland
A 20-year-old violent Portland Antifa member and former journalism student pleaded guilty to multiple felony riot and arson charges stemming from her role in violence over several years.
Alma Yesenia Raven-Guido pleaded guilty on March 23 to felony second-degree arson, two charges of felony rioting, felony first-degree criminal mischief, and three charges of second-degree disorderly conduct. She was given a sweetheart deal where she received no prison time and all but the arson charge would be deferred upon paying $50,000 in restitution. Days later on April 7, that full amount was quickly paid. Raven-Guido had also been charged by the DOJ for her role in the arson attack but the case was dismissed upon her local conviction.
While involved in violent Antifa militantism, Raven-Guido was also a journalism student at the University of Oregon. She is among several self-identified journalists involved in far-left violent extremism in the 2020 riots. She used the alias "Raven" among Antifa comrades, who frequently vandalized Portland property demanding the charges be dropped.
On Aug. 25, 2020, Raven-Guido was part of the Antifa riot where violent extremists smashed their way into Portland City Hall and tried to set the building on fire. The extremists threw rebar tires on the street to puncture the tires of responding police. She was arrested at the time, charged and was quickly released without bail. Her charges were then dropped by district attorney Mike Schmidt's office.
Raven-Guido continued her involvement with Antifa, and as Portland rioting continued into 2021, she was involved in an arson attack on the Portland Police union hall. She poured an accelerant on a fire.
“Some members of the group communicated by radio, used shields, threw projectiles at police and wore black clothing to obscure their identities,” said the district attorney’s office in a press release announcing charges at the time. “Some affiliated with the group launched multiple large fireworks towards aircrafts that were flying overhead.”
Raven-Guido is among several violent Portland Antifa members who have been given sweetheart plea deals that allow for convictions to be deferred upon payment of restitution. The money is crowdfunded through far-left nonprofits, GoFundMe and online campaigns.
