Asylum seekers given lengthy prison sentences for rape of woman on Brighton beach

Three UK asylum seekers, who were refused asylum, Ibrahim Alshafe, Abdulla Ahmadi and Karin Al-Danasurt, imprisoned for filming and raping a woman in 2025 behind a beach hut after she became separated from her friends on a girl's night out.

Two asylum seekers, Ibrahim Alshafe and Abdulla Ahmadi, were sentenced to 21 years each for raping a woman on Brighton beach while a third man, Karin Al-Danasurt, who filmed the incident, received 18 and a half years.

The attack occurred after the woman was separated from her friends and was incapacitated. Prosecutors called the crime "cynical, predatory and callous."

Surveillance footage showed Alshafe smiling during the assault, which included spitting and kicking the victim. The assailants were identified through CCTV and DNA evidence.

All three men were asylum seekers living in hotel accommodations.
