The Supreme Court on Tuesday sided with the Trump administration, reversing a 4th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that had blocked a requirement for immigration judges to obtain official approval before delivering speeches in their official capacities.

The justices did not rule on the merits but sent the case back for additional proceedings.

The policy comes from the Executive Office for Immigration Review, which oversees roughly 750 immigration judges. The appeals court had intervened last year after President Trump fired several agency heads responsible for hearing related complaints.
