UK radio station Radio Caroline mistakenly announced the death of King Charles III

Bericht door noumoe »

UK radio station Radio Caroline mistakenly announced the death of King Charles III on Tuesday after a “computer error” triggered its “Death of a Monarch” protocol.

The broadcast suspended normal programming, declared the 77-year-old monarch had “passed away,” played “God Save the King,” and went silent for about 15 minutes before staff realized the mistake.

Station manager Peter Moore issued an apology to the King and listeners, explaining the procedure was “accidentally activated.”

The blunder occurred while Charles and Queen Camilla were carrying out engagements in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter, shortly after their four-day state visit to the US, which included a meeting with President Trump at the White House.
