Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor and ex-attorney for President Donald Trump, sustained injuries in a car accident in New Hampshire earlier this weekend, a spokesperson for Giuliani said Sunday.

Giuliani, 81, was diagnosed with a fractured thoracic vertebrae, multiple lacerations and contusions in addition to unspecified injuries to his left arm and leg after his vehicle was struck from behind late Saturday, according to spokesperson Michael Ragusa.

Giuliani is in “good spirits and recovering tremendously,” Regusa said.

Ragusa said Giuliani was flagged down by an alleged victim of a “domestic violence incident,” after which Giuliani “rendered assistance,” called police and remained nearby until officers arrived.

While waiting for the police, Giuliani’s vehicle was “struck from behind at high speed,” injuring Giuliani, who was then taken to a nearby trauma center.

In a follow-up statement, Ragusa said the crash was “not a targeted attack.”

Giuliani, who rose in popularity as a New York City prosecutor, was elected the city’s mayor over two terms from 1994 until 2001. He campaigned unsuccessfully for president in 2008 before becoming an advisor to Trump during his first presidency. After pushing false claims of election fraud following the 2020 election, Giuliani was indicted on 13 counts in Fulton County, Georgia, for his role in helping to try to overturn election results. He filed for bankruptcy in December 2023 shortly after being ordered by a court to pay more than $148 million in damages to Georgia election workers he defamed. In 2024, Giuliani was disbarred in Washington, D.C., months after his disbarment in New York.

19-year-old woman has been identified as a driver involved in a car crash that injured former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and two others.

Lauren Kemp, of Concord, was driving the Honda HR-V that struck the rear of the Ford Bronco that Giuliani, 81, was travelling in on Saturday evening, New Hampshire State Police said in a statement on Sunday.

Troopers were investigating a domestic violence report on the southbound Interstate 93 highway shortly before 10 p.m., when they witnessed the crash on the northbound lanes, state police said. Troopers and fire personnel provided assistance.

Giuliani was taken to a nearby trauma center, where he was treated for a fractured thoracic vertebra, multiple lacerations and contusions, as well as injuries to his left arm and lower leg, Michael Ragusa, Giuliani's head of security, said in a statement posted on X.
