WHO and AstraZeneca, with global "health" leaders, fund top universities to train 10,000 future doctors on how "climate change" is increasing cancers, cardiovascular disease and mental illness.

Twenty-five European universities have launched the European Network on Climate & Health Education (ENCHE), aiming to equip more than 10,000 medical students with the skills to address the health impacts of climate change and deliver sustainable healthcare. Assoc. Prof. Cecilia Sorensen of Columbia University says, future medics "will see the volume and nature of the illnesses they treat directly impacted by climate change in coming years."

This initiative is chaired by the University of Glasgow, with support from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Sustainable Markets Initiative Health Systems Task Force, which includes major healthcare organizations like AstraZeneca, GSK, and Novartis.

The initiative responds to the growing recognition that climate change is driving an increase in both infectious and non-communicable diseases, such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, respiratory illnesses, and mental health conditions. As WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus stated, “The health impacts of climate change are not hypothetical threats in the future; they are right here, and right now.”

The ENCHE will embed climate and health topics into medical school curricula across Europe, helping future doctors better understand and manage the rising health burden caused by "climate change." In its first three years, the ENCHE aims to train over 10,000 students with cutting-edge scientific knowledge and skills to combat these emerging health threats.
