Fire Breaks Out at Saginaw County Grain Elevator – Fire Could Burn for Another Week – Latest Fire at a Food Processing Plant

A fire broke out at a grain elevator in Hemlock, Michigan overnight.
Fire crews from 29 departments took part in the battle to put out the flames.
This is the latest fire to break out at food plant in the US this year.
The fire at the Saginaw plant was the latest fire at a food processing plant this year.

Firefighters in Saginaw County worked all night after a fire broke out in a grain silo at an elevator in Hemlock.
On Sunday at 10:10 p.m., the Richland Township Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at The Andersons Inc., an agricultural storage and supply company located at 485 S. Hemlock Rd. Additional 911 calls were advising that flames from the pump house were visible.
Richland Fire Command requested support and continued emergency operations to mitigate the emergency. Authorities said the on-scene report was showing heavy fire.
“Twenty-nine different departments on scene,” said Richland Township Fire Chief Jeremy Scott.
More than a hundred firefighters worked through the night, doing their best to knock down flames coming from the grain silo. Scott said some residents were evacuated from their homes for a couple of hours out of an abundance of caution.
